Upcoming Changing Exhibits at SFAHS
(Now through May 10)
What’s happening at your local historical society?
February 1 thru March 1, 2023
Missing the snow this year? You are invited to experience Winters Gone By in the Twin Boroughs through photographs left behind by those who walked our streets before us!
Travel back in time and imagine…
- Shoveling snow off the porch roof while standing on it!
- Listening to sleigh bells and the snorting of horses blowing clouds of steamy breath on Main Street!
- Full immersion baptisms in the Schuylkill River amid ice along the shore on Christmas Day!
- Rosey cheeks wrapped in scarves as children walked to school!
- The exuberance of children hopping on their sleds and flying down hilly streets closed just to allow them a place to sled!
- Clamping on ice skates to glide across frozen ponds.
In addition to the archival photos on exhibit, we are pleased to have modern and vintage ice skates for you to view. You will see a 1960’s Flexible Flyer sled as well as other older wooden sleds from the collection of Dave and Connie Willauer. SFAHS may be the only place you'll find snow in our area this year!

What Is It?
New installation in the Gallery
Back by popular demand, (first displayed at Royersford Community Day), try your hand at a collection of more than 30 strange and interesting artifacts both from our collection and items contributed from the collections of our board members. What is it? Do you know the name or the purpose of these objects? Some will have no trouble, but it's been fun watching children take guesses.
President Emeritus, Bill Brunner has been busy writing blog posts about local personalities. Most recently, entrepreneur Frank Kline and school principal and author, Professor Jacob K. Jones. Soon to be posted is a blog about D. K. Ernst, who operated a Royersford Ford dealership on Main Street, later to become well-known for his presentations about hypnosis.
