Description

The Vincent Canal was the portion of the Schuylkill Navigation Company's system of canals and slack water sections of the river that ran through Spring City.  The Schuylkill Navigation transported anthracite coal and other raw materials from Port Carbon, PA to Philadelphia.  The system celebrated its bicentennial in 2025, and was responsible for the formation and growth of more than 50 communities along the Schuylkill.  .  This four-page reprint captures the history of this important catalyst that spawned the formation and growth of Spring City and Royersford.
