2023 Duck Race is July 4th!

(Click on the duck above to go directly to the donation page.)

Last year, members of the historical society, as well as our Facebook friends, really came through! You purchased 540 tickets, an incredible number, (more than any other organization participating in the Duck Race), enabling the society to receive the highest possible payback: $4 on every ticket sold! Even better, members and friends of the society contributed an additional $1,360 on top of all tickets sold, making this our best fundraiser of 2022. If you participated last year, THANK YOU! Your generosity helped us pay for a “boat load” of non-budgeted maintenance and repair expenses.

This year is no different and we need your help. We are facing multiple extensive (and expensive) repairs to our museum facility. The most significant is more than $22,000 in repairs to the farmhouse’s porch and foundation. The porch has been unable to be used for activities and events for two years and must be repaired. With an annual operating budget totaling only $29,000, you can see why fundraising is necessary and why your donations are critical. We have researched state grants, but so far have been ineligible to even apply as our operating budget falls below $100,000. Unfortunately, there are not many grants available for the “little guy.”

For $10, you can have two “ducks” in this year’s Pottstown Rotary Club Duck Race. You’ll have two chances to win $1,000, as well as 100+ other prizes. Last year, there were 133 prizes, and 17 of our tickets were winners! We’re counting on you, as well as the others who support our society, to each contribute the modest amount of $10 (or more J) to show your support. It all adds up, and will greatly assist us!

No later than June 15th, (and sooner, if possible), please cick on the duck above and purchase two (or more) Duck Race tickets.  We will enter your tickets in the race and ticket stubs will be mailed to the address you provide.  (An additional donation will help us even more!)

Thank you for your continued support of the Spring-Ford Area Historical Society! Your donation provides critical support that enables us to carry out our mission of preserving, interpreting and sharing the history of the Spring-Ford area.

Sincerely,

SFAHS Board of Directors

*NOTE: During the last two years, the Duck Race was held “virtually.” Actual rubber ducks were not be used. Instead, all entry certificates were placed in a large kiddie pool and winners were drawn randomly. It is expected that this will be the format for this year’s race.
